About Me

Joep is one of three managing partners at Namahn, a human centered design agency based in Brussels.

Joep started out as a management consultant at Price Waterhouse. He has held a variety of roles at financial service providers such as American Express, Citibank and BNP Paribas in places such as London, New York, Paris and Brussels. After developing the mobile strategy for the BNP Paribas retail banking group worldwide, he decided to pursue a long-held interest in human-centered design and become a managing partner at Namahn, a human-centered design agency working for clients such as AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sony and the European Commission.

Joep has vast experience facilitating marketing and design workshops all over the world including in the US, but also in locations such as China, South Korea, Vietnam, Brazil, Spain, France and the United Kingdom.

  • Q1: What is your burning mission in health?

    Help ensure that healthcare tools, solutions and services are designed starting from key user insights, working collaboratively and with the aim of ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Q2: What is something you want everyone to see?

    (The article/talk/piece of art I always share): I very willingly share my affection for Oscar Peterson and Count Basie?s recording of 10 tracks compiled under the title "Satch and Josh".

  • Q3: Why it inspires you?

    It is beautiful music showcasing two older and accomplished virtuosos improvising together in a way that conveys joy and harmony.

    It is a fantastic opportunity to meet experts and other practitioners who are looking to improve healthcare solutions and experience through design.

Effective ways to apply a human centered design approach to mobile health care

This will be a hands-on case-based workshop demonstrating and applying key human-centered design tools and techniques for the development of mobile health applications. From defining the key design challenge and understanding critical user needs through exploring possible concepts for solutions, building prototypes and ensuring solutions are built as designed.
